1-2 post-doctoral positions starting during the fall of 2007, each of one-year duration with possible prolongation of up to 3 years are hereby announced at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Aarhus. The positions will be attached to the newly started Lundbeck Foundation Theoretical Center for Quantum System Research. The center is lead by Professor Klaus Mølmer. The other senior scientists are Lars Bojer Madsen, Uffe Vestergaard Poulsen, and Nicolai Nygaard. The activities of the center focus on three prominent research directions in atomic and molecular physics: Quantum optics and information, cold atoms and matter waves and atomic and molecular physics with new light sources.
The current openings are within the topic atomic and molecular physics with new light sources. The successful candidate will be conducting numerical and analytical based investigations of the interaction of molecules and/or atoms with high-intense fields on the femto-second and atto-second timescale. Applicants must hold a PhD degree in Physics or Chemistry. The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current collective agreement for Danish Universities.
