A BMBF-funded Postdoctoral position (E13/BAT-IIA) is available starting April 1, 2007
within the framework of the SysMo Project "Global metabolic switching in Streptomyces coelicolor" at the ZBIT of the University of Tuebingen.
The position is limited to three years.
Project description:
The core aim of the complete SysMo project is to understand pathway networking in a complex oligotroph where there are clear links between primary and secondary metabolism (antibiotic and other bioactive metabolite production). The project involves 15 partners from 5 European countries.
The project conducted by the partners in Tuebingen consists of two parts. The part relevant for the position announced here is dedicated to the compilation and analysis of whole-genome transcription profiles of wild type and mutant strains in Streptomyces coelicolor using microarrays.
Position requirements:
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in molecular biology or related field with a strong publication record and strong professional references. The ideal candidate will be an expert experimentalist in the area of transcriptomics. Some experience in computational biology is desirable, and an interest in learning more is essential. As this position will involve working with both experimentalists and computational biologists, communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work independently will be weighted heavily.
Tuebingen University seeks to increase the number of women in research and teaching. Applications from women are therefore particularly welcome.
